Amber study, Medication Management in nursing homes

“Development and evaluation of an algorithm in Medication Management for best practice. Effectiveness of the intervention and translation into standard care for nursing home residents” – AMBER study
The AMBER study aims to increase medication safety and quality of pharmacotherapy in nursing homes. The AMBER study is patient-centered and tries to take the specific circumstances of the setting into account. Feasibility and practical relevance are core aspects of the study. Interviews with health-care providers and patients hence are the foundation of the study. In conjunction with a literature review an algorithm and a tool will be created and tested. The tool lateron should support pharmacists in performing a Medication Management in nursing homes. Frequent and relevant drug-related problems will be detected and solved in collaboration with physicians and nurses in a reasonable timeframe to provide a patient benefit.
